The new campus

Yeah, I totally need my sunglasses here. And I'll either end up tan, or seriously burned soon. The quad Not sure why I so adore this, but sea glass and abalone shell in the cement near the library. View of the ocean. Which stops me in my tracks everytime I accidentally stumble upon it.Poppies at the fountain.

Back at Balboa

Dropped Tim off at the airport on MLK day. Then got a call saying my grandmother had died. It was not a fantastic day. Thank god for Balboa Park, which will always feel a bit like playing in my (other) grandparents' backyard. I needed something familiar. Camellias are a favorite. I was thrilled to see that they grow in San Diego. The greenhouse and lily pond Old buildings. This may be "The Prado", but then again, it may not be.

California Cuisine

Yeah, I have no idea. Japanese. Oddly works as comfort food for two culture-shocked, repatriated Cali kids who've been living in Jersey. Loteria!!!! One of few reasons to deal with LA traffic. In n' Out grilled cheese. With grilled onions, of course. Wine, and damn fine wine, in the grocery store in my parents 'hood.

New place

West Coast side of the move

TSA found our boxes really interesting.Grapevine is pretty from a distance. Tim is not a fan of long drives, especially those sandwiched by loading and unlaoding a minivan. The sunrise, a few hours into the trip. I'm now a bigger fan of minivans.

Moving Academic

Boxes/luggage Post-its. Went from 104 library books to 4.
Apologies for the light posting. It's been hectic around here. With the move to Cali, I'll either have tons to post or--due to business-will continue with the sporadic updates.

Apartment

I'm outta here in a week. To a degree, this blog functions as a diary. So I thought I'd load some pictures of the beloved apartment. These were taken back in October, when the deck garden was at it's best for the year.
