Friday 26 February 2010

Garden book to prep for spring. But first, more winter.

Thursday 25 February 2010

Japanese bowls. Rain inside the window.

Wednesday 24 February 2010

Creme egg. Painkillers.

Tuesday 23 February 2010

Citrus boxers. Ancient ipod will no longer charge.

Monday 22 February 2010

Port from Bogle, which is 20 minutes from my parents' house in Cali. Fridge bulb. Need one every five years. Only sold in packs of two.

Friday 19 February 2010

Japanese bell. Cereal that needs to be put in container.

Thursday 18 February 2010

Closet chaos. Sandwich shop.
Having a hard time deciding what to wear is not what I need on Thursday mornings. However, a marvelous sandwich from this place is a great way to end my long teaching day.

Wednesday 7 February 2010

Sorting out how much coffee to grind. Burnt potholder.

Tuesday 16 February 2010

Feminist extreme travel book. Orange tree leaves.
When working hard, it is nice to have a book that takes me away for a half hour before sleep. Every winter the tree does this while it is trapped inside and it makes me nervous.

Monday 15 February 2010

Chinese New Year/ Valentine's Day chocolate box. Rosemary.
The husband went all the way into NYC to get me this for Valentine's Day. The rosemary has been left out for the winter in an experiment. (Last year's rosemary did not love the dry air inside last winter.)

Friday February 12 2010

Food coloring and snow.
I actually think these are both beautiful, but I suppose either could be judged awful.

Thursday 11 February 2010

Coral paperweight. Underplowed local roads.
Paperweight is in my lovely office on campus. Did I get stuck in snow driving near my house? Yes, yes I did.

Wednesday 10 February 2010

Snow covered world. Sock on the window.
A huge blizzard shut down the world. It is a bit pretty. Melting snow drips onto the window right above our head as we sleep. This stops the tat tat tat noise.

Tuesday 9 February 2010

Crocus. See's box.

Monday 8 February 2010

LA Burdick chocolate box. Green stuff on Ikea chair.
We went to NYC for the weekend. There is now an LA Burdick store near Union Square. Previously I had to go to Cambridge to get their stuff. It is, perhaps, my favorite chocolate. Intense, so a small box can easily last a week. I love the ether blue color and lines on this chair and am saddened to see it age.

Friday 5 February 2010

Perfume. Sink.
This perfume makes me smell lovely and happens to be from Capri. Where we got engaged. The sink is the other side of domestic life. Icky. And all my fault--if I would just spit 3 inches to the left.

Thursday 4 February 2010

Blood oranges. Holding on snow.
I don't know if I am hungry for color, warmth or light in winter, but these blood oranges (which I'd forgotten I'd picked up) seem to help on all counts. The stubborn wee bits of snow annoy me.

Wednesday 3 February 2010

Fading crocus bulb. Snowy day scene to represent February in this year's calendar.
One of those beautiful/ugly days, I think. I knew I was anti-winter, but wow.

Tuesday 2 February 2010

Green coat. Office clutter.
I don't wear enough color, but this coat makes me happy. The office is (still) a huuuge mess.

Monday 1 February 2010

Hyacinth bulb. 1970s kitchen floor.
Spring will be here eventually. In the meantime, the smell of the bulb makes me smile.
