Sidewalk. Lambertville storefront.

Thursday 28 October 2010

Dia de los muertos figures. Candy color wheel.
Busy days ahead. Posting early

Wednesday 27 October 2010

Bedroom window view. Cereal.
Fall is decidedly here. Somehow this represents marriage to me. 'Course, to be fair, at night he eats like a grown up and I eat too much dessert.

Tuesday 26 October 2010

Radiator. Maple fudge.
Kind of a fall theme today. My first year here, the radiator in my room scared me. It steamed and hissed mere feet from my bed. i felt like I was sleeping in the same room as a dragon. I'm less afraid now, but won't miss them when I'm in Cali. I've been wanting maple candy, but the places I've looked lately have been out. There is no reason this stuff from Quebec should be at my local grocery store, and half off! But I'm going back for more tomorrow.

D.C. Continued: 25 October 2010

Security is a bit excessive.
Went to the HRC store.
They are all so earnestly fit. Eastern market.
Distinctive DC architecture.
Fried green tomatoes.

Capital Trip: 23 October 2010

We visited all three branches of government. This pic is of two.
Light hitting the capitol. Maybe it will soak in and help out the Senators and Reps.
Detail of the Liberty statue in the Capitol.
Supreme Court.
Detail of marble work on the front of the court.

Thursday 21 October 2010

Planning a trip. Worrying I'll forget something.

Wednesday 20 October 2010

Onions. Spaetzle. Chocolate covered gummi bears.
I'm a crier. That onion juice? Wicked stuff. Spaetzle is a heart attack on a plate, but made a good dinner. Asparagus too, but we ate that too quick. There are good chocolate covered gummi bears & cheap-ass, corner cutting versions. These are good ones.

Socks. Reading.
Cool temps require warm socks. My (marvelous) husband studies in the bath--and has even since his undergrad days. Alas, we've only the one bathroom in the house.

Monday 18 October 2010

Free burned (already?) coleus plant. Radish seedling.
The garden had a brief happy point there, when we had both some rain and some sun, but now is fading fast. This is my third attempt to grow radishes this year. Early spring: strong seedlings. Eaten by critter. (My guess is a woodchuck). Summer: Too hot. Bolted above ground. Now: Some good seedlings, most dug up by this years wretched gang of squirrels. This solitary grower lives under a glass bell most of the time. But if I get one good radish, I'll be happy.

Friday 15 October 2010

Ganesha. Married skeletons.
Remover of obstacles. The much repaired couple has lost an arm. Again. But the real life pair is doing well.

Wednesday 13 October 2010

Fall Decor. Forgotten Fruit.

Tuesday 12 October 2010

Breakfast. Optimistic drink.
Remembered to eat breakfast, but only after brushing my teeth. There is a reason grape nuts don't come in mint flavor. Went out for a cocktail with Tim. On a school night no less.

Nat'l Coming Out Day: 11 October 2010

Buttons. Clothes.
Did some stuff for National Coming Out Day today. Worked with amazing people and learned a lot. Just exhausted. Got very little sleep, up early and then went all day. Have I been known to come home and drop my clothes in the entry hall in such situations? Of course not.

Friday 8 October 2010

Method stuff. New mouth thingie.
Handsoap is apparently one of my loves. Who knew. Couple that with interesting scents, good design and a low price and I'm happy. That pain in my neck I've had for the last 2 months? Linked to my charming habit of grinding my teeth in my sleep. But apparently this will guard me from the night, which will help.

Thursday 7 October 2010

Skyr. Drain.
Skyr is ridiculous. 160 calories, a third of my daily protein, light enough that I can tolerate it as a breakfast. But I have to go to Whole Foods to get it, as an Icelandic product it is about as non-local as can be, and it costs $2 a pop. Dunkin Donuts cup and bottle on mini wine in the storm drain at Rite Aid. Now was that a good night or a bad one?

Wednesday 6 October 2010

Old house. Renovation of the guest house.
This property went up for sale a few years back. I liked to think what I would have done if we'd been able to buy it. Apparently, the new owners decided to renovate so it would look like an Orange County subdivision, circa 1998.

Tuesday 5 October 2010

My street, really early. Panera cookie.
Not a morning person. Totally earned this and well worth the calories.

Homecoming Weekend: 4 October 2010

The Rutgers Stadium. Jersey GTL shirt. Indian Ice Cream Dessert.
After years as a student, I finally made it to a college football game. This fellow has apparently embraced MTV's Jersey Shore image of our state. Ice Cream from Kwality. Kulfi, falooda noodle, rose sauce and ice cream and basil seed. Looks gross, but so good. I'll really miss this shop.

Friday 1 October 2010

New, collapsible water bottle. Iron cooling in middle of kitchen counter.
